Received Noodles 1 Hour 10 Minutes After Scheduled Delivery Time
Delivery Driver Apologized via Text Message... "I Have Little Experience"
A customer who received their delivery food an hour late due to the delivery driver's inexperience has sparked attention by sharing the text messages exchanged with the driver.
On the 18th, a post titled "I got a text from the delivery driver" was uploaded on an online community. The author, A, who ordered delivery because they wanted noodles, began by saying, "The delivery did not arrive even after exceeding the estimated delivery time by over 1 hour and 10 minutes."
A said, "Since the delivery was taking too long, I contacted the restaurant, and shortly after, the delivery driver contacted me," adding, "The driver said, 'I'm driving a car, not a motorcycle, so it's a bit congested, sorry.' His voice sounded like an older gentleman, probably around the age of a father."
He continued, "Even when delivering by motorcycle, it takes time because they stop at several houses, so I wondered what the driver expected by delivering by car," and mentioned that the noodles he received were cold and soggy. However, A did not complain and ate the noodles.
Later, delivery driver B sent a lengthy text apologizing to A for the late delivery. In the photo attached by A, B said, "Sir, I apologize for the late delivery," and added, "I am inexperienced, so I couldn't be fast; I kindly ask for your understanding." A replied, "No problem. Please always drive safely and have a happy new year," and B also expressed gratitude, saying, "Thank you. I wish you great blessings in the new year."
A said, "Seeing him apologize while calling me 'sir,' even though I am much younger, made me feel a mix of emotions, and my irritation subsided," adding, "I thought of him as a hardworking family man."
Netizens who read the story responded with comments such as, "In these uncomfortable times, such patience is really nice to see," "This is what they mean by a kind word paying a thousand debts," "I get annoyed, but when the other person sincerely apologizes, I think I could let it slide once," and "It's nice to see people acknowledging that anyone can make mistakes and understanding each other."
On the other hand, some netizens reacted with comments like, "If it’s not raining or snowing, taking an hour is a lie," "They must have done batch deliveries and went to A’s house last," and "The noodles probably turned into udon; I would have complained."
Meanwhile, the delivery app 'Baedal Minjok,' operated by Woowa Brothers, runs the 'Baemin Connect' system to facilitate smooth deliveries. It allows people who are not professional delivery drivers to work part-time deliveries whenever they want. Since deliveries can be made using various means of transportation such as cars or kickboards, accessibility is low, and the number of applicants is rapidly increasing.
