Establishment of the 2024 Comprehensive Environmental Patrol Plan... Continued Strengthening of Resident-Centered Environmental Patrols
Lee Soon-hee, Mayor of Gangbuk-gu, "Carefully Addressing Residents' Inconveniences to Create a 'Gangbuk That Empowers My Life'"
Gangbuk-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Soon-hee) announced that it has established the '2024 Comprehensive Environmental Patrol Promotion Plan' to prevent inconveniences in residents' daily lives and safety hazards, and will thoroughly conduct on-site patrols.
This year, the district has selected key seasonal and sectoral tasks such as △safety management during the thawing season △preparations for wind, flood damage, and snow removal △major event sites of the April 19 National Culture Festival △management status of bicycle storage facilities, and will carry out at least three planned patrols each quarter.
Special inspections such as traffic environment safety patrols in school zones will be promoted, and monthly environmental patrols will be conducted with 'My Neighborhood Guardians' composed of about 10 residents from each dong.
In addition, a 'Customized Environmental Patrol for Eungdapso' will be implemented, focusing on 12 items in 6 areas that have a high frequency of reports and require intensive management among on-site complaints in the Seoul Citizen Integrated Online System 'Eungdapso'.
The intensive management areas include △street maintenance (roadside deposits, illegal advertisements) △parks and green spaces (street trees and green belts) △traffic (traffic inconvenience, abandoned vehicles) △roads (road inconvenience, sidewalk inconvenience, road facilities) △cleaning (street cleaning, illegal dumping) △flood control and disaster prevention (sewage facilities, sewer manholes).
Furthermore, to prevent nighttime crimes and safety accidents, joint nighttime crime safety patrols will be conducted at least once a month together with the Autonomous Crime Prevention Unit and Gangbuk Police Station. During school vacations, an 'Environmental Patrol Experience Group' will be operated for elementary, middle, and high school students to provide opportunities for participation in district administration and share ways to protect the environment.
The district plans to promptly address daily inconvenience complaints related to traffic, roads, and cleaning through monitoring of on-site complaints in Eungdapso and regular environmental patrols this year, thereby increasing resident satisfaction and enhancing trust in district administration.
Lee Soon-hee, Mayor of Gangbuk-gu, said, "With rapid social changes recently, the demand for civil complaints in various fields is increasing day by day. This year as well, we will do our best to carefully examine residents' inconveniences in daily life and create 'Gangbuk that empowers my life.'"
