Dongdaemun-gu Provides Heating Cost Support (100,000 KRW) to Over 15,000 Vulnerable Households

Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) is providing special heating cost support to vulnerable groups struggling with increased heating expenses due to the surge in energy prices, aiming to ensure stability during the winter season.

The recipients are 15,300 vulnerable households, including beneficiaries under the National Basic Livelihood Security Act and the near-poor class (as of January 8), each receiving a fixed amount of 100,000 KRW per household.

The eligible households will receive the support funds directly into their bank accounts starting from the 26th without any separate application process. Those who have difficulty opening a bank account can receive the cash at their local community service center.

A district official stated, “We hope this support will provide some relief to vulnerable groups facing increased economic hardship due to soaring heating costs.”

Meanwhile, the district has designated the period until March 15 as the ‘Comprehensive Winter Measures’ period, implementing projects such as the 2024 Hope Ondol Warm Winter Campaign, the 1 Employee 1 Household Hope 1:1 Matching Project, and meal support for children at risk of missing meals during school vacations, ensuring vulnerable groups can safely get through the cold winter.
