Boseong County Successfully Completes Boseong County Municipal Gugakdan's Town and Township Tour Performances

'Our Village, Our Garak Hanmadang' Applauded for Admiral Yi Sun-sin Reenactment

Boseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that from the 8th to the 15th, the Boseong-gun Municipal Gugak Orchestra successfully completed the ‘Our Village, Our Melody Festival’ Gugak performances, showcasing various performances such as Changgeuk and traditional Korean music while touring 12 towns and townships in the area, starting from Beolgyo-eup.

‘Our Village, Our Melody Festival’ presented lively performances in the form of Changgeuk to residents who usually have limited access to Gugak, achieving a twofold effect of expanding the base of Gugak appreciation and promoting the history and culture of Boseong-gun.

This performance proceeded in the order of ▲Song of Boseong Citizens ▲Ganggangsullae (Namsaeng-a Nolaera, Sonchigi) ▲Heavenly Lord.

In particular, during the ‘Heavenly Lord’ performance, a one-act play reenacted the scene where Admiral Yi Sun-sin, during the Japanese invasions of Korea (Imjin War), wrote the report “There are still twelve warships” (今臣戰船 尙有十二) at Yeolseonru in Boseong, reorganized the navy, and set out for the Battle of Myeongnyang, receiving great applause.

Artistic Director Park Chun-maeng said, “Our Village, Our Melody Festival aimed to let residents of the 12 towns and townships fully enjoy the charm of Gugak.” He added, “We plan to continue visiting every corner of the towns and townships to hold diverse Gugak performances, so we ask for your great interest.”

Meanwhile, the Boseong-gun Municipal Gugak Orchestra, founded in March 2023 and directed by master singer Park Chun-maeng, consists of seven members who perform in regular concerts, Pansori Sanctuary Saturday Open Performances, various Gugak programs, invited performances, and events, serving as ambassadors promoting Boseong sound.
