This year, the number of beneficiaries will be the same as last year, 1,500 people, supported in two rounds.

The first round will recruit 800 people from the 24th to February 5th, and the second round will recruit an additional 700 people between May and June.

The eligible applicants are unemployed youth aged 19 to 39 who have their resident registration address in Gwangju City and have graduated (including dropout, dismissal, or completion) from their final educational institution (based on the last school attended), with a household income within 150% of the median income, and who have the will to seek employment. However, current students, students on leave, and prospective graduates are excluded.

Gwangju City plans to support the selected job-seeking youth with 500,000 KRW per month for five months, totaling 2.5 million KRW. Additionally, to enhance competitiveness in the job market, various program trainings such as job search exploration, employment preparation, capacity building, and entrepreneurship will be provided to assist with career setting and job-seeking plans.

Applications can be submitted online through the official Gwangju Youth Dream Allowance website. Gwangju City will review applicants’ household income, duration of unemployment, and job-seeking activity plans to make the final selection.

The selection results can be checked on February 28th on the Gwangju City website or via individual notification text messages. Final recipients must complete online preliminary education and follow procedures such as issuing a clean card for the payment of the Youth Dream Allowance.

Since 2018, Gwangju City has been implementing the Youth Dream Allowance and Activity Support Project, supporting about 6,000 people with a total of 14 billion KRW to date.

Oh In-chang, Youth Policy Officer, said, “We hope that the Youth Dream Allowance will not be just a simple subsidy but will practically help young people find employment through personalized job-seeking support.”
