Songwon Cultural Foundation, a public interest foundation under Dongkuk Steel Group, announced on the 17th that it held the ‘21st Songwon Scholarship Certificate Award Ceremony’ at its headquarters in Euljiro, Seoul.
Jang Se-wook, Vice Chairman of Dongkuk Holdings and Director of Songwon Cultural Foundation, introduced the company by visiting the offices on each floor of Dongkuk Steel and Dongkuk CM on the day of the award ceremony along with the 21st Songwon scholarship recipients.
Director Jang said, “We are continuously expanding the range of departments eligible for scholarship selection,” and added, “We will continue to explore ways to maintain connections with scholarship students beyond just providing scholarships, such as factory tours and language study support.”

Songwon Cultural Foundation selected a total of 14 scholarship students from nine universities located in the Gyeongsang, Chungcheong, and Incheon areas where Dongkuk Steel Group’s Dongkuk Steel and Dongkuk CM business sites are located.
The scholarship students are university students majoring in fields such as new materials, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, environmental studies, and safety. The total scholarship amount is approximately 100 million KRW.
Songwon scholarship students can receive full tuition support for four consecutive semesters. They are given preferential treatment when applying for new graduate recruitment and junior staff positions at the three spun-off companies of Dongkuk Steel Group: Dongkuk Holdings, Dongkuk Steel, and Dongkuk CM.
Songwon Cultural Foundation is a public interest foundation established by Dongkuk Steel in 1996. Since 2004, the foundation has been providing scholarships to university students near its business sites to contribute to the local community and the revitalization of science and engineering universities. Up to this year, it has awarded approximately 3.7 billion KRW to a total of 433 scholarship students.
