Establishment of 'Planning and Economic Bureau' Combining Policy Planning, Budget, and Financial Functions in Jongno-gu
Temporary Organization 'Jongno Future City Promotion Team' for Successful Advancement of Changsin Future City Project
Jongno-gu (Mayor Jeong Munheon) has carried out an organizational restructuring effective January 1st of this month, establishing a system consisting of 6 bureaus, 1 office, 1 secretariat, 1 officer, 39 divisions, and 1 team.
This reorganization, based on an objective organizational diagnosis by a professional research institute, focused on strengthening, downsizing, and integrating organizational functions, diagnosing workload by department, and preparing efficient personnel reallocation plans to proactively respond to various administrative demands.
The most notable point is the establishment of the new “Planning and Economic Bureau,” which consolidates Jongno-gu’s policy planning, budgeting, finance, and tax functions while reflecting the characteristics of the local industry.
The existing Job Economy Division was split into the “Local Economy Division,” focusing on the economy, and the “Job Policy Division,” focusing on employment. The Tax Divisions 1 and 2 were divided into the “Tax Management Division,” “Property Tax Division,” and “Local Income Tax Division,” which is expected to enable more efficient tax base management and collection than before.
Additionally, the establishment of the temporary organization “Jongno Future City Promotion Team” for the successful promotion of the Changsin Future City Project, which integrates the redevelopment projects in the Changsin and Sungin-dong areas into a single project, is also noteworthy.
To efficiently promote district administration publicity, a Public Relations Division was established within the Administrative Bureau and reorganized into the Press Team, Public Relations Team, Media Communication Team, and Resident Communication Team, which also stands out.
Reflecting Jongno’s regional characteristics, which holds numerous cultural heritages to the extent it is called the “Roofless Museum,” the “Cultural Heritage Division” was also newly established. This is expected to accelerate the construction of the Jongno Cultural Belt.
Among the existing childcare and education tasks, school support projects and youth job experiences will be handled by the “Child and Youth Education Division.” Youth education and lifelong education, tailored to life cycles, will be managed by the “Lifelong Education Division.”
Jeong Munheon, Mayor of Jongno-gu, stated, “With this organizational restructuring, we aim to faithfully promote the key projects of the 8th elected term and present a more concrete and realistic Jongno model.”
