Last Year’s Public Project ‘Record High’ 135.8 Billion KRW

Integrity Improved from Last Place, Achieved Overall Grade 2

County Governor Kim Hee-su’s Pledge Progressing Smoothly, 80% Implementation Rate of 100 Cases

Kim Hee-su, the Jin-do County Governor in the third year of the 8th civil administration, is reported to be continuing his smooth progress.

First, despite difficult conditions such as the government's fiscal tightening and the population decline crisis last year, he secured the largest scale of public contest project funds in history.

He secured a total of 70 projects and a budget of 135.8 billion KRW in public contest projects hosted by the government and Jeollanam-do, securing growth momentum for a new leap forward. This amount is about 100 billion KRW more than the average of the past eight years.

The major public contest projects include 30 billion KRW for the Jeonnam-type balanced development project, 30.3 billion KRW for the southern region wide-area tourism development project, 20 billion KRW for the Republic of Korea cultural city, and 10 billion KRW for the eco-friendly aquaculture promotion project.

◆ Significant Improvement in Various Evaluation Indicators Including Integrity

Jindo County achieved a remarkable feat by attaining Grade 2 in the '2023 Public Institution Integrity Comprehensive Evaluation' announced by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission at the end of last year.

Previously, during the 7th civil administration, Jindo County was at the bottom level, but since the launch of the 8th civil administration, various policies such as anti-corruption and integrity campaigns, customized integrity education, and integrity broadcasts have been implemented.

◆ Awards in 37 Areas Including Civil Complaint Administration

Jindo County's proactive administration is shining. At the end of last year, it was honored with the Prime Minister's Award, the highest prize, at the Government Innovation Best Practice Competition hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.

In particular, the release of the ‘Jindo Green Onion Burger’ in collaboration with McDonald's received high marks as a leading example of a loconomy where the local community and businesses coexist and prosper together.

◆ Governor Kim Hee-su’s Pledges Also Progressing Smoothly, 80% Implementation Rate out of 100

Governor Kim Hee-su of the 8th civil administration is showing a performance of achieving an 80% implementation rate of his pledges.

According to Jindo County, among the five major areas and 11 key tasks, so far there are △9 completed and closed △54 completed and continuously pursued △37 normally progressing.

◆ Establishing New Changes and a Proactive Working System

These achievements of Jindo County over the past year acted as a ‘performance catalyst’ through organizational and personnel changes.

Since the launch of the 8th civil administration, new administrative capacity enhancement training, public contest project response training, and joint training (workshops) for securing national and provincial funds have been conducted for all employees.

Along with this, a ‘Customized Performance Improvement Special Task Force (TF team)’ was formed centered on the deputy governor to respond actively.

Governor Kim Hee-su stated, “The achievements of 2023 are thanks to the support of the residents and the sweat and efforts of the staff,” and added, “In 2024, based on last year’s achievements, we will prepare more meticulously and operate the Future Strategy Committee to secure future growth engine projects for Jindo County.”
