Dong-A University Law School 13th class students Jeong Hee-jae, Cheon Young-hwan, Lee Seung-taek, and Kim Kyung-jin passed the prosecutor selection written exam (4th round), in-depth practical skills interview, and the Ministry of Justice final interview, earning their places on the final list of appointed prosecutors.
With this, Dong-A University Law School has produced a total of 11 prosecutors since 2019.
In the law school system, appointment as a prosecutor is considered as difficult as "picking stars from the sky." Unlike the past when judicial appointments for judges, prosecutors, and lawyers were decided based on judicial examination and Judicial Research and Training Institute grades, candidates must now undergo a separate preparation process during the three-year law school course.
Under the leadership of Dean Song Kwan-ho, a former chief prosecutor, Dong-A University Law School formed a "Prosecutor Preparation Group," providing students with various special lectures and mentoring from successful alumni outside of regular classes. As a result, the number of successful prosecutor candidates steadily increased, culminating in the achievement of four successful candidates this year.
Dean Song said, "This achievement was made possible by the diligent efforts of the successful candidates, the fruitful results of the Prosecutor Preparation Group’s specialized programs, and the strong interest and active support from the president and the university." He added, "Based on this success, we will strive to continuously improve by securing excellent faculty members responsible for practical education."
Jeong Hee-jae, a graduate of Dong-A University’s Seokdang Talent Department as well, said, "I was happy to study at Dong-A University for both my undergraduate and law school education. I believe I was able to pass the exam thanks to the support and encouragement of my parents, fellow law school students, and professors." He added, "I will become a courageous prosecutor, a warm prosecutor, a fair prosecutor, and a prosecutor who holds myself to even higher standards."
Successful candidates Cheon Young-hwan, Kim Kyung-jin, and Lee Seung-taek also said, "We were able to focus on preparing for the prosecution thanks to the university’s great support and excellent lectures. We will continue to do our best in carrying out our duties." They added, "We believe that our juniors have even greater potential and possibilities. We hope to be of some help to them."
Dong-A University Law School also achieved success this year by producing one successful candidate (13th class Jeon Ji-in) for the Judicial Researcher (Rokluk) exam.
