Direct Investment in 7 Teams by Bluepoint Last Year
Daejeon Youth Startup Academy is recruiting new students this year.
Daejeon Youth Startup Academy operator Bluepoint Partners announced on the 17th that it is recruiting applicants for the '2024 Startup Success Package Support Project, Youth Startup Academy' until the 5th of next month.
Eligible startup representatives must be founders under the age of 39 and have started their business within the last 3 years. The target fields include common areas (super-gap) such as system semiconductors and quantum technology, as well as new industries like artificial intelligence, big data, and ICT (Information and Communication Technology). Unlike last year, when companies located in the metropolitan area and Incheon were not eligible, the support scope has been expanded nationwide.
A total of 40 people will be selected through qualification review, document screening, and presentation evaluation to enroll. The Youth Startup Academy is a project that supports all stages of startup development as a package, including providing residence space, education and coaching, and commercialization funding for outstanding entrepreneurs. It has produced unicorn companies such as Toss and Zigbang.
The privately-led Daejeon Youth Startup Academy is operated by Bluepoint, which is responsible for everything from selection to education and investment attraction. Bluepoint has a systematic startup support program and an industrial expert network.
During last year’s operation period, through Bluepoint’s accelerating efforts, the Daejeon Youth Startup Academy achieved the creation of 58 new jobs across all enrolled teams. Ten teams attracted a total investment of 2 billion KRW, and seven teams received direct investment from Bluepoint.
Kim Yong-geon, Vice President of Bluepoint, said, "This year marks the third year of Bluepoint’s operation of the Daejeon Youth Startup Academy, which is writing a successful model of acceleration through government and private sector collaboration," adding, "We will spare no effort to provide systematic support so that startups in the metropolitan area and other regions can also dream of becoming unicorns."
