GS25 "Yonggimyeon PB Brand ‘Omori’ Gains Popularity"

GS25's private brand (PB) 'Omori' has emerged as a guaranteed hit.


According to GS25 on the 17th, the Omori Kkakdugi Seolleongtang Ramen, launched on the 3rd as a limited winter edition with 250,000 units, ranked within the top 10 in sales among over 150 types of cup noodles.

Omori Kkakdugi Seolleongtang Ramen is a spin-off product of Omori Kimchi Jjigae Ramen, which has established itself as GS25's bestseller. It is the first in Korea to add real kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi) in a retort pouch.


This premium cup noodle combines the mild and milky beef bone seolleongtang broth with the refreshing and spicy taste of real kkakdugi, replacing the aged kimchi used in the original Omori Kimchi Jjigae Ramen.


Since its launch in 2015, GS25's Omori Kimchi Jjigae Ramen has consistently ranked first or second in total cup noodle sales each year, becoming the biggest hit among GS25 convenience store PB ramen products. Subsequently, Omori Budae Jjigae Ramen, Omori Tuna Jjigae Ramen, and Teumsae Omori Kimchi Jjigae Ramen were released one after another, all becoming hit products.


Another popular GS25 PB cup noodle, Gonghwachun Jajangmyeon, has expanded its lineup with Gonghwachun Samseon Jjamppong, Gonghwachun Bul Jjajang, and Gonghwachun Aju Maeun Jjajang, gaining popularity.


The total sales of spin-off products from popular PB cup noodles like 'Omori' and 'Gonghwachun' sold at GS25 approach about 10% of total cup noodle sales, demonstrating a solid product lineup structure that even many national brand (NB) products cannot catch up with. GS25 plans to introduce a variety of seasonal limited PB cup noodle products in the future.


Kim Daejong, manager of the processed food team at GS Retail, said, “Since starting with Teumsae Ramen in 2006, GS25 has built the strongest PB ramen lineup in the distribution industry by consecutively hitting with Omori, Gonghwachun, and Jumbo Dosirak series,” adding, “We will continue to introduce seasonal limited and spin-off products like the Omori Kimchi Kkakdugi to bring joy and new value to consumers.”
