Expansion of Budget-Friendly Gift Sets Priced Around 100,000 Won
Increasing Item Variety by Sharing Logistics Centers
Lotte Mart and Super announced on the 17th that their first round of Lunar New Year gift set pre-order sales, conducted from the 21st of last month to the 12th of this month, grew by 150% compared to the same period last year.
The company cited the expansion of budget-friendly gift set composition through integrated sourcing as a major factor behind the increase in pre-order sales. Budget-friendly gift sets refer to livestock, fruit, and fish products priced under 100,000 KRW, as well as seaweed, nuts, and mushrooms priced under 50,000 KRW. Previously, Lotte Mart and Super had expanded the proportion of budget-friendly gift sets to about 60% of the total items.

In the fruit category, mixing Shine Muscat grapes and Hallabong oranges and jointly purchasing products through diversification of production regions helped lower selling prices, which is considered a key factor. For fish gift sets, the volume secured was about 120% of the usual purchase amount, enabling the creation of five new oyster sets priced under 100,000 KRW, which appears to have contributed to high sales.
Lotte Mart and Super also increased budget-friendly gift sets in the livestock category by 30% compared to last Lunar New Year. In the nuts category, about half of the total operating items are organized as cost-effective gift sets priced under 50,000 KRW. Mushrooms and seaweed are sold at a 30% discount or offered to L.POINT members at prices lower than the regular price.
The company analyzed that the joint use of the Chungju Production Center, specializing in fruit and livestock products, and the Lotte Fresh Quality Innovation Center by both Mart and Super helped broaden consumer choices and contributed to sales growth. Gift sets previously handled only by Lotte Mart are now also sold at Super, significantly expanding the number of operating items.
Kim Dong-hoon, head of the fruit team at Lotte Mart and Super, said, "To reduce the purchasing burden on customers buying holiday gift sets, we have increased the proportion of budget-friendly gift sets to offer more reasonably priced gift sets in this Lunar New Year pre-order." Lotte Mart and Super plan to start their 'Holiday Delivery' service, delivering pre-ordered products, from the 18th.
