US Seizes Iranian Weapons Supplied to Houthi Rebels... First Since Red Sea Attack

The United States recently seized new conventional weapons supplied by Iran to the Houthi rebels in Yemen, major foreign media reported on the 16th (local time). The U.S. Central Command announced this, stating, "This is the first time since the Houthis' attacks began in November last year that we have seized lethal new conventional weapons provided by Iran."

The U.S. Central Command operates in the Middle East, Egypt, and West Asia. Recently, it has been responding to attacks by the Houthi rebels occurring in the Red Sea. The Houthis have been attacking vessels passing through the Red Sea since November last year, under the pretext of supporting Palestine, which is at war with Israel.

The United States has sent messages to Iran, which supports the Houthis, urging de-escalation to restore safety to the Red Sea shipping routes, while also forming a multinational fleet. Nevertheless, as the Houthis continued provocations, including engagements with U.S. military helicopters, airstrikes were carried out on Houthi bases on the 12th.
