Jangseong-gun Selected for Ministry of Industry's 'Renewable Energy Convergence Support' Contest

Jangseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 16th that it has been selected for the '2024 Renewable Energy Convergence Support Project' contest.

Hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and implemented by the Korea Energy Agency, the 'Renewable Energy Convergence Support' is a subsidy project that supports the installation of renewable energy facilities.

Installing solar power facilities in general households can save about 40,000 to 60,000 KRW on monthly electricity bills. With solar thermal facilities, hot water can be used without separate equipment.

With this contest selection, the county secured 1.23 billion KRW in national funds and will support the distribution of renewable energy facilities in Samseo, Samgye, and Seosam-myeon with a total project budget of 3.75 billion KRW, including provincial and county funds.

The full-scale implementation will begin next month.

Previously, in 2022, the county promoted the renewable energy convergence support project with a budget of 2.17 billion KRW in parts of Jangseong-eup and Hwangryong-myeon, and in 2023, with 4.68 billion KRW in Jinwon, Nam, Donghwa, and Hwangryong-myeon.

Continuing the record of being selected for the project for three consecutive years this year, the county is accelerating the spread of renewable energy in the region.

County Governor Kim Han-jong said, “Next year, we plan to apply for the contest project targeting Bukil, Buki, and Bukham-myeon. We will continuously expand renewable energy facilities to practice carbon neutrality and strengthen our position as an eco-friendly energy self-reliant city.”
