[2024 US Election] Biden: "Trump Dominates GOP... Election Is a Battle Against the Far Right"

U.S. President Joe Biden evaluated former President Donald Trump as the frontrunner after the Republican Party's first presidential primary caucus in Iowa concluded on the 15th (local time). He defined this presidential election as a confrontation with far-right Republicans.

President Biden stated on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) that "It seems Trump won in Iowa," adding, "At this point, he is the clear frontrunner of the Republican Party."

He continued, "However, the important thing is that this election will always be a contest between you and me versus the extreme MAGA (Make America Great Again) Republicans," emphasizing, "This has been the case in the past and will continue to be so in the future."

The upcoming U.S. presidential election in November is widely expected to be a contest between President Biden and former President Trump. Struggling with low approval ratings, President Biden is rallying support by framing the race as a battle against the far right. According to a poll conducted by the British current affairs weekly The Economist and polling firm YouGov, 44% of respondents predicted a Trump victory in the presidential election, while only 35% said Biden would win.

In a speech marking the third anniversary of the January 6 Capitol riot, where Trump’s ardent supporters stormed the Capitol, President Biden said, "Trump is trying to seize power at the expense of democracy," adding, "Democracy depends on this vote, and your freedom depends on this vote."
