On the 16th, various online communities have been posting content related to the 'firefighter slickback.' The posts include a video of a firefighter performing the slickback challenge, uploaded on a YouTube channel called 'Firefighter Samchon.'

In the video, the firefighter, dressed in firefighting gear, dances the slickback to music in front of the Cheongju Western Fire Station. Then, the moment he steps on an icy patch, he slips and falls to the ground. The screen immediately transitions to a warning about 'Winter icy road safety accidents.' The video provides safety accident prevention guidelines such as ▲Be cautious of icy roads in shaded areas ▲Wear shoes with rough soles like hiking boots ▲Wear gloves to keep both hands free. The firefighter’s gear weighs about 3 kg, but when fully equipped at a fire scene, it can approach 30 kg.

Although this video was first uploaded on December 19 of last year, it has recently gained renewed attention online as temperatures dropped again. Netizens praised it, saying, "Promoting icy road safety by showing a firefighter slipping while doing the slickback is ingenious," "Please promote public officials who sacrifice themselves for the public," "The image of sacrificing for the public good is admirable," and "It contains both fun and a message."

The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency stated through the National Health Information Portal that "Falls on sidewalks and roads mainly occur on surfaces covered with water, snow, or ice." A fall refers to injuries caused by slipping or rolling and falling. Fall accidents occur especially frequently from December to February. The agency revealed that over 30% of falls and fall-related accidents among seniors aged 65 and older happen during winter.

If you experience a fall, instead of rushing to get up in panic, first check if you are injured. If the pain is severe, it is advisable to call 119 or ask for help nearby to visit a hospital. Especially for the elderly, it is necessary to promptly seek hospital care after an accident to check for fractures or other injuries. As people age, muscle strength and bone density decrease, making falls more frequent and injuries more severe.

To prevent fall accidents, in addition to the guidelines provided by the firefighter in the video, it is good to follow these tips: ▲Take shorter steps and walk with quick steps ▲Keep your center of gravity forward while walking ▲For the elderly, avoid going out on snowy or rainy days and use assistive devices such as canes.
