This project is being promoted by Yeosu City in collaboration with the Korean Society for Atmospheric Environment. It plans to conduct a basic status analysis of the areas surrounding the national industrial complex, analyze environmental management cases, and carry out environmental investigations on air pollution, odors, water, marine, and soil, aiming to establish efficient environmental management measures.

The kickoff meeting was attended by about 100 people, including the Yeongsangang River Basin Environmental Office, Jeollanam-do Province, the Yeosu Industrial Complex Civil-Government Cooperation Governance Committee and Expert Committee, 90 business sites in the Yeosu Industrial Complex, and the Yeosu Industrial Complex Factory Managers' Council, where heated discussions were held on effective methods for investigating environmental pollution.

A city official stated, "Since the establishment of the Yeosu Industrial Complex, there have been continuous demands for environmental management improvements due to environmental and resident health damages. This project will be a significant driving force for the transition to an eco-friendly industrial complex," adding, "We will make every effort to ensure that systematic environmental improvement measures can be established through the project."
