The Department of Nursing at Dong-Eui Institute of Technology (President Kim Young-do) operated the "Basic Nursing Clinical Practice" course as part of the Diverse Campus program for first- and second-year high school students in the Busan area from the 2nd to the 12th, receiving great responses.
The "Diverse Campus" program is organized by the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education and aims to help students plan their careers by offering courses that are difficult to provide in regular high schools through collaboration with local universities.
In this program, the Department of Nursing at Dong-Eui Institute of Technology offered the Basic Nursing Clinical Practice course, covering both theory and practice on topics such as infection control, basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and defibrillator use, inpatient management, vital signs, enema administration, end-of-life care, and pre- and post-operative nursing.
In particular, participating students were able to experience actual nursing tasks by wearing Level D protective suits and performing CPR. Additionally, gamification and problem-based learning (PBL) lectures were conducted to enhance student engagement and immersion.
A high school student who participated in the training said, "I have always wanted to become a nurse, but I was very interested in being able to directly perform various practical exercises that I could not learn at school," adding, "This program has brought me one step closer to my dream."
Kim Yoon-ji, head of the Department of Nursing, stated, "I hope this program has helped high school students with their career planning," and added, "We plan to carry out various activities to connect with the local community by utilizing our university's excellent educational programs and facilities."
