Assemblyman Kim Won-i: "I Will Only Think of Mokpo and the People's Livelihood"

'22nd General Election Candidacy Declaration with "Re-election Goal"'

Kim Won-i, the preliminary candidate for Mokpo City National Assembly member from the Democratic Party of Korea, held a press conference on the 15th in the Citizens' Room of the Mokpo City Council and declared his candidacy for the 22nd general election to be held in April.

At the press conference, candidate Kim Won-i stated, "I will think only of Mokpo and only of the people's livelihood. I will become a powerful re-elected lawmaker and achieve uninterrupted development of Mokpo."

Candidate Kim recalled, "The past four years were a time of struggle to attract a medical school to Mokpo, as well as a time for Mokpo's development, including promoting the offshore wind power hinterland complex, securing a budget of 49 billion KRW for the major renovation of Mokpo Station, attracting the Korea Island Promotion Agency, and promoting the Jeonnam-type tram and Daebul Industrial Complex bridge construction."

Regarding the main policy directions, candidate Kim emphasized, "I will definitely succeed in attracting the Mokpo medical school. Through the major renovation of Mokpo Station, I will complete the goal of revitalizing the old downtown area."

He also stated, "I will definitely achieve the integration of Mokpo and Sinan. To this end, I propose a 'Joint Declaration of Preliminary Candidates for the Integration of Mokpo and Sinan' by all preliminary candidates for Mokpo City National Assembly member."

Candidate Kim explained, "To build Mokpo as a city centered on offshore wind power, I will create new growth engines by promoting a dedicated RE100 national industrial complex. Global offshore wind power companies such as Vestas are cooperating with Jeonnam Province to establish factories at Mokpo New Port."

Meanwhile, regarding some rumors that he might be subject to a lower cutoff in the Democratic Party, candidate Kim Won-i said, "I have passed the eligibility screening by the Democratic Party's verification committee, and those rumors are clearly false." He added, "Since the election campaign has begun, I will strongly respond to false information through legal action and other measures."

Finally, candidate Kim expressed his determination for the general election, saying, "We will unite tightly under party leader Lee Jae-myung and definitely regain the lost government. I will take the lead in fighting against the arrogance, dogmatism, incompetence, and irresponsibility of the Yoon Seok-yeol prosecution dictatorship."

Before the press conference, candidate Kim Won-i also held a meeting with Mayor Park Hong-ryul of Mokpo in the mayor’s office to discuss major local issues.
