Only Taking the Fish Meat... "The Sushi Got Cold, Please Refund"

On the 14th, a post titled "Times are tough with the economy in shambles, but there are shameless people like this" was uploaded on an online community. A, who identified themselves as a self-employed sushi restaurant owner, began by saying that around 9:30 p.m. that night, an order worth 40,000 won was placed through a delivery platform.

The delivery rider, following the customer's request to "ring the bell and leave it at the door," rang the bell two or three times and even left a message after arriving at the delivery destination. However, after the delivery was completed, A received a message through the delivery platform's customer service center stating that the customer did not hear the bell, the sushi had been left out for about 15 minutes and had become cold, making it inedible, and that they wanted a refund.

A said, "It was absurd, but I agreed to cancel the card payment and issue a refund. Still, I had a bad feeling, so I asked them to leave the food at the door without eating it because I was going to take it back." Upon checking the returned sushi, A found that only plain rice remained.

According to the photos A shared, except for a few pieces of sushi, the rest were left with just the rice, the fish on top having been removed. The udon and buckwheat noodles that were delivered together were also reduced by more than half.

A said, "The next morning, I sent a message because the customer didn't answer my call, and I received an absurd reply," and shared the text message. Customer B said, "I didn't hear the doorbell at all," and added, "During the time it was left unattended, the sushi rice got too cold, so I requested a refund because I couldn't eat it as sushi. I want to ask the owner if eating a few pieces of fish and some udon and buckwheat noodles is worth 40,000 won." In response, A said, "I processed the refund and said I would collect the food, so I don't understand why they ate it. Is this reasonable?"

A added, "What’s the difference between ordering chicken, leaving only the bones, and then asking for a refund?" and said, "I think they ate all the sushi and then acted like a troublemaker."

Netizens who read the story responded with comments such as, "Since they only didn’t eat the tuna, maybe they dislike tuna among the fish," "Self-employed people must be so stressed," "It seems like you could sue; you should seek legal advice," and "Maybe they didn’t answer the phone because they felt guilty."
