Korean-American actor Steven Yeun won the Best Actor award at the Critics' Choice Awards following his Golden Globe win for the Netflix drama 'BEEF'.

On the 15th (Korean time), at the 29th Critics' Choice Awards held in Santa Monica, Los Angeles (LA), USA, Steven Yeun won the Best Actor award in the Mini-Series/TV Movie category, beating Matt Bomer from 'The Gilded Age', Tom Holland from 'Crowded', David Oyelowo from 'The Sheriff of West', Tony Shalhoub from 'Monk's Last Case', and Kiefer Sutherland from 'Rebellion of Kaneho'.

Steven Yeun's co-star, actress Ali Wong, won the Best Actress award, and American actress Maria Bello, who appeared in a supporting role, won the Best Supporting Actress award. Adding the Best Limited Series award, the drama, led by Korean-American production staff, took home four awards in total.

'BEEF', written and directed by Korean-American director Lee Sung-jin, is a black comedy depicting a road rage incident between Danny Cho (played by Steven Yeun), a Korean-American contractor whose life is not going well, and Amy Lau (played by Ali Wong), a Vietnamese-American businesswoman dissatisfied with her life. The 10-episode series was released on Netflix on April 6 last year and was praised for effectively portraying the anger and struggles of second-generation Asian immigrants.

It is also nominated in 11 categories at the upcoming Emmy Awards on the 15th and in 3 categories at the Screen Actors Guild Awards next month.

The Critics' Choice Association (CCA), which hosts the Critics' Choice Awards, is composed of over 600 broadcast and film critics from the United States and Canada, and the awards ceremony held every January is divided mainly into film and TV categories.
