The claim that the recognition chip was removed and discarded is not true
Currently, the owners of the Poodle and Maltese dogs have been returned
A dog owner who had been raising a pet dog abandoned a poodle, but when the owner was identified and the dog was returned through a microchip (RFID) containing the guardian's information, it was claimed that the owner abandoned both a Maltese and the poodle together again a few days later. There was even an allegation that the microchip was removed when the poodle was abandoned for the second time. However, this was confirmed to be untrue.
On the 15th, a post titled "The worst devilish dog abandonment case ever" was shared on several online communities, containing the story of a poodle abandoned twice. The post was informed through the abandoned animal adoption platform 'Paw in Hand' and told the story of a brown poodle abandoned twice by its owner. The poodle in the photo was living in Cheonan, Chungnam, but was abandoned and admitted to the Cheonan City Animal Protection Center. Later, on the 10th, an adoption notice was posted, and since the poodle had a microchip with guardian information implanted in its body, the center contacted the dog owner.

The dog owner who took the poodle back abandoned it again two days later, on the 12th, along with a white Maltese. It appears that the owner abandoned two dogs they were raising together side by side. The abandonment location was about a 25-minute drive from the initial abandonment site. On the following day, the 13th, a rescuer took the poodle and other abandoned dogs to an animal hospital, where wounds were found on the poodle. The hospital said the wounds might be traces of the microchip being removed.
A, who shared this story with Paw in Hand, said, "After retrieving the dog, they abandoned two dogs together at a different location with a two-day interval," adding, "There are many people who only pretend to be human. I hope they live up to the basic duties of being human." According to the animal registration system implemented in 2014, owners raising pets must register their animals at the nearest city, county, or district office to protect the animals and prevent loss or abandonment. Failure to register results in fines.
Microchip Was Implanted Even at the Time of Abandonment... Both Dogs Have Now Returned to the Owner
However, Chosun.com reported that it turned out the microchip had not been removed. [Photo source=Online community 'Poinhand']
However, Chosun.com reported that the claim that the microchip was removed is not true. A Cheonan city official stated on the 15th, "Both dogs had microchips implanted, so the owners were identified, and both were confirmed to have the same owner and were returned on the 12th," adding, "In suspected cases of animal abuse, animals can be quarantined for a certain period, but after that period, they are returned to the owner."
The official continued, "If the owner is later questioned about the facts and it is confirmed to be an actual abandonment case, we will file a complaint with the police," and "Animal abandonment and abuse cases are investigated by law enforcement agencies." In fact, the adoption notices related to abandoned dogs on Paw in Hand show that both dogs have been returned to their owner and are back home.
Meanwhile, the current Animal Protection Act stipulates that when abandoned or lost animals are being protected, a public notice must be made for seven days so that the owner can be informed of the protection measures. The law also states that if the owner requests the return of the animal during the protection period, the animal must be returned to the owner. Violations of this law, such as abandoning a pet, can result in a fine of up to 3 million won.
