Samsung Asset Management announced on the 15th that the 'Samsung Bitcoin Futures Active ETF,' listed on the Hong Kong stock market, has grown more than fourfold in one year since its listing, reaching a net asset value (AUM) of 10 million dollars. It was listed at 2.5 million dollars in January last year and has now increased to 10.4 million dollars.
Recently, the price of physical Bitcoin surged significantly during the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)'s approval process for listing Bitcoin spot ETFs. The Samsung Bitcoin Futures Active ETF recorded a 117% return in one year since its listing, attracting growing interest among investors.
The biggest advantage of the Samsung Bitcoin Futures Active ETF is that it carries relatively lower risks such as settlement accidents that may occur during spot Bitcoin trading, exchange bankruptcies, or hacking. Instead of directly investing in Bitcoin, it operates as an indirect investment method by investing in Bitcoin futures listed on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME), tracking Bitcoin's returns. It allows convenient investment using existing securities accounts without the need for a cryptocurrency wallet, receiving positive evaluations from general securities investors.
Yoo Jin-hwan, head of the Global Strategy Planning Team at Samsung Asset Management, said, "Investor interest is once again focusing on Bitcoin ETFs, which offer safer investment options than direct Bitcoin spot investments," adding, "We expect domestic investors to show more interest in the Samsung Bitcoin Futures Active ETF, which can be conveniently traded during regular daily hours." He further added, "Considering the relatively high volatility of Bitcoin prices, it seems advisable to invest in Bitcoin Futures ETFs according to one's investment objectives."
The Samsung Bitcoin Futures Active ETF can be traded from 10:30 AM to 5:00 PM Hong Kong time, which corresponds to the Hong Kong stock market hours. Investors can trade by selecting Hong Kong as the trading country in the overseas securities trading account's HTS or MTS overseas stock trading window.
