Inauguration of Kim Indo as the 5th Chairman of the Board at Dongui Academy Educational Foundation

"Contributing to Community and National Development through Academy Innovation"

On the 12th, the Dongui Educational Foundation held the inauguration ceremony of the 5th Chairman Kim Indo of Dongui Educational Foundation at Seokdang Art Hall in the International Building of Dongui University.

About 500 guests, including National Assembly members Seo Byung-su (Busanjin-gu Gap) and Lee Heon-seung (Busanjin-gu Eul), Dong-A University President Lee Hae-woo, Kyungsung University President Lee Jong-geun, Tongmyong University President Jeon Ho-hwan, Dong-Eui College President Kim Young-do, Yonsei University Professor Emeritus Yang Seung-ham, Reno Industrial Chairman Lee Chae-yoon, as well as heads of institutions under the foundation and faculty and staff, attended the ceremony. A commemorative concert followed the inauguration ceremony.

In his inaugural speech, Chairman Kim Indo said, “We will inherit the noble educational philosophy of the founding chairman, who said ‘When the forest is dense, birds come flying,’ and become an academy that contributes to the development of the local community and the nation.”

Chairman Kim expressed his determination, saying, “In step with the era of transformation, I will devote myself wholeheartedly to the innovation and prosperity of Dongui Educational Foundation with the resolve of a second founding.”

Following this, National Assembly member Seo Byung-su, Yonsei University Professor Emeritus Yang Seung-ham, and Dong-A University President Lee Hae-woo delivered congratulatory speeches sharing their views on the development of Dongui Educational Foundation.

The commemorative concert featured performances conducted by Professor Son Myung-kyun of Dongui University and piano by Professor Kim So-hyung, with soprano Lee Min-hee, an alumna of Dongui University, among the performers. They collaborated with the Busan National Symphony Orchestra to present a feast of music including Brahms’ Hungarian Dances and the 4th movement of Dvo??k’s Symphony No. 9 “From the New World.”

On January 5th, Dongui Educational Foundation held a board meeting and appointed Dr. Kim Indo, who served as the 2nd chairman of Dongui Educational Foundation, as the 5th chairman.

Chairman Kim Indo graduated from Seoul High School and Yonsei University with a degree in Political Science and Diplomacy. He earned a master's degree in economics from the University of Alabama and a Ph.D. in economics from Northern Illinois University. He joined Dongui University as a professor in the Department of Economics in 1991, served as Planning Director, Vice President, and the 6th President, and was the 2nd chairman of Dongui Educational Foundation from February 2010 to June 2017.

Founded in 1966, Dongui Educational Foundation operates Dongui Middle School, Dongui Technical High School, Dong-Eui College, Dongui University, Dongui University Oriental Medicine Hospital and Dongui Hospital, and Dongui University Affiliated Dongui Kindergarten.
