A 9th-grade public official who submitted a false business trip application and claimed to have visited restaurants and cafes has sparked controversy. This official even revealed the name of the department they belong to in a post on their social media (SNS).
On the 14th, according to various online communities, Mr. A, who belongs to Department C at B City Hall in Gyeonggi Province, recently posted a photo on his Instagram with the caption "Wage Lupangjung (meaning 'salary thief')."

Looking at the application form in the photo he posted, it was confirmed that he submitted a one-day business trip application on the 12th. Mr. A wrote, "I submitted a business trip application, ate with the supervisors, went to a cafe, and wandered around the neighborhood."
Mr. A also posted a photo of an official document that appears to be related to a construction issue within a development-restricted zone. Along with documents sent from B City Hall, he wrote, "If they say don't build, then don't build," and "Why don't they listen? These things that were painstakingly built will have to be torn down anyway." It seems he expressed dissatisfaction toward those who illegally constructed buildings in the development-restricted area.
He then posted a photo of a team dinner notice, saying, "Why are there always team dinners?" In this photo, the recipient's department and real name were fully exposed. Netizens who saw the photo criticized, saying, "This is a breakdown of discipline, it’s unacceptable," and "They should be dealt with strictly." Due to the controversy over the weekend, some reacted, wondering, "Will Mr. A even show up for work on Monday (the 15th)?"
If it is confirmed that Mr. A indeed left his workplace without authorization due to the false business trip and received business trip expenses improperly, disciplinary action can be taken.
Previously, Mr. D, an 8th-grade public official, was disciplined last September after posting a photo of a beer can along with budget documents at an administrative welfare center in Nam-gu, Gwangju, where he works. He posted the photo with the caption, "Kelly! You become my thief-thief-thief colleague," along with documents containing budget details and related laws.
"Kelly" is the brand of beer Mr. D drank, and the phrase "colleague" appears to mimic a verbal slip made by Kim Chaewon, a member of the girl group Le Sserafim, during a concert last year. Ultimately, the Nam-gu Audit Office launched an investigation into Mr. D and issued a reprimand. The Audit Office judged that Mr. D’s act of drinking alcohol during work hours and sharing photos of the alcohol bottle and official documents violated the duty to maintain dignity.
