9 Consecutive Months of Growth... 13.1% Growth Expected This Year
Global semiconductor sales rose year-on-year for the first time in 15 months.
On the 11th (local time), the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) in the United States announced that global semiconductor sales for November last year reached $48 billion (approximately 63 trillion KRW).
This represents a 5.3% increase compared to $45.6 billion in November 2022, the same month of the previous year. It also rose 2.9% from $46.6 billion in the previous month.
This is the first time since August 2022 that sales have increased year-on-year. Month-on-month, the growth trend has continued for nine consecutive months.
John Neuffer, president of the SIA, said, "The increase in sales in November last year compared to the same month last year shows that the global semiconductor market will continue to be strong in the new year." He added, "The global semiconductor market is expected to record double-digit growth this year."
Last month, the SIA forecasted that global semiconductor sales would reach $588.4 billion (approximately 772 trillion KRW) this year, a 13.1% increase from last year.
By region, sales increased year-on-year in most areas including China (7.6%), Asia-Pacific/Other (7.1%), Europe (5.6%), and the Americas (3.5%). Only Europe (-2.8%) saw a decline in sales.
Month-on-month, sales increased in China (4.4%), the Americas (3.9%), and Asia-Pacific/Other (3.5%). Sales decreased in Japan (-0.7%) and Europe (-2.0%).
