Haman-gun, Gyeongnam Province, has undergone an organizational restructuring and has begun full-scale operations. The organization has been reorganized into 3 bureaus, 3 offices, 13 departments, the council, 2 directly affiliated agencies (5 departments), 4 business offices, 10 towns and townships, and 173 divisions.

First, to actively promote the development of tourism resources centered on the Malyisan Tumuli, which was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage site last year, and to focus administrative efforts on systematic tourism industry promotion, the Cultural Heritage and Tourism Office was divided into the ‘Cultural Heritage Office’ and the ‘Tourism Education Department.’

The ‘Cultural Heritage Office’ strengthened its functions by newly establishing the ‘World Heritage Division’ and the ‘Historic City Division,’ while the ‘Tourism Education Department’ received the ‘Tourism Promotion and Development Division’ formerly under the Cultural Heritage and Tourism Office, the ‘Lifelong Education Division’ from the Planning and Audit Office, and the ‘Media Public Relations Division’ from the Culture, Public Relations, and Sports Department.

Haman-gun Advances as a Historical and Cultural Tourism City... Organizational Restructuring Implemented Haman County Office.

In December last year, the Malyisan Tumuli was selected for the ‘Historic and Cultural Area Maintenance and Development Leading Project’ by the Cultural Heritage Administration, which will invest 12.2 billion KRW over three years to promote the creation of historical landscapes, development of urban linkage spaces, establishment of a trail exploration system, and the creation of the Aragayah Historical Village and the Five-Color Gaya Playground.

Accordingly, this organizational restructuring aims to efficiently promote projects carried out by the county, leap forward as a historic cultural city, and develop the tourism industry.

Additionally, the Park Management Office was abolished, and a Policy Support Division was newly established within the Council Secretariat.

A county official stated, “This organizational restructuring, designed to actively respond to administrative demands and environmental changes and to improve work efficiency, is expected to contribute to the successful promotion of local priority projects and the strengthening of competitiveness.”
