World's First Demonstration of 'FDR' Highlighted
SensorView is soaring. It is interpreted that the news of Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong showing interest in next-generation communication technology trends, including 6G, had an impact. SensorView was the first in the world to demonstrate full-duplex communication (FDR) technology based on multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) in the upper mid-band, a candidate band for 6G mobile communication. 6G is a core foundational technology that enables advanced technologies such as AI, autonomous vehicles, robots, and extended reality (XR) to be implemented in everyday life.
As of 10:10 AM on the 11th, SensorView was trading at 5,290 KRW, up 795 KRW (17.69%) compared to the previous trading day.
Chairman Lee Jae-yong visited Samsung Research located in Umyeon-dong, Seocho-gu, Seoul the day before. He reviewed trends and countermeasures for next-generation communication technologies, including 6G. Samsung Research is Samsung’s global research and development (R&D) hub. It is an organization that researches cutting-edge future technologies such as next-generation network communication technology, artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, and healthcare.
During this visit, Chairman Lee examined ▲ the development status of 6G communication technology ▲ prospects for international technology standardization ▲ trends in next-generation communication technologies such as 6G and 5G Advanced, and discussed business strategies to secure a leading position in the future network market.
Last year, SensorView successfully demonstrated the '6G Upper Mid-Band MIMO Full-Duplex Technology' jointly developed with Professor Chae Chan-byung’s research team from the Department of IT Convergence Engineering at Yonsei University, as well as an AI-based 'Semantic Communication System.' When demonstrated at the IEEE Globecom held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, last year, researchers and scholars from major global companies such as Ericsson, Qualcomm, Nokia, and Huawei also visited.
The research team successfully developed MIMO full-duplex technology with a specialized module that has a polarization interference isolation of over 45 dB in the 12.5 GHz frequency band and introduced it on the international stage for the first time. Full-duplex communication is a technology that transmits and receives data simultaneously without time delay in the same frequency band.
Unlike half-duplex communication (HD), which transmits by dividing frequency and time, it performs uplink and downlink transmission simultaneously, increasing transmission efficiency by up to twice. By increasing frequency speed and efficiency, it can respond to the increase in mobile data traffic. It is evaluated as a core technology that not only has an economic value worth trillions of won but also can realize various 6G services.
When utilizing the upper mid-band, speeds can be increased by up to 50 times compared to the 3.5 GHz mid-band used in existing 5G. Coverage is also increased more than 10 times compared to the 5G C-band. To implement this, advanced ultra-large-capacity multi-input multi-output antenna technology (E-MIMO) is required, which is being developed by Yonsei University and other major institutions worldwide.
