Weekend and Holiday Dispatch... Yeongdeungpo-gu Operates 'Environmental Discomfort Relief Task Force'

Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) announced that it will operate the "Environmental Discomfort Relief Task Force" year-round to promptly resolve residents' inconveniences.

Generally, complaints received on holidays are handed over to the relevant personnel and handled on weekdays. However, inconveniences closely related to daily life, such as construction site noise, must be resolved on the same day to increase residents' satisfaction.

Accordingly, the district operates the task force from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends and public holidays to quickly address inconveniences related to living environments, such as noise and dust generated by construction, regardless of working days.

The number of environmental-related complaints received by the district on holidays over the past three years has been steadily increasing: 734 cases in 2021, 1,443 cases in 2022, and 1,633 cases in 2023.

The district stated that as the number of construction zones due to redevelopment projects increases, inconveniences such as noise have also risen, and to understand and resolve these residents' inconveniences, the task force operation has been expanded from temporary to year-round.

When inconveniences are reported to the 120 Dasan Call Center or the district office duty room, the task force immediately dispatches to the site to identify the cause and take measures.

In addition to resolving complaints, the task force is prepared for various environmental pollution accidents. Their duties include ▲ disseminating information during ozone, yellow dust, or fine dust warnings ▲ collecting pollutants and emergency restoration in case of river water quality accidents ▲ relaying information to related agencies and dispatching to the site during chemical or gas accidents ▲ patrolling rivers during rainfall.

A district official said, "Through the operation of the task force, we will actively and promptly resolve residents' inconveniences even on holidays," and added, "We will continue to strive to create a safe and pleasant living environment for residents and ensure peaceful weekends."
