Repeated 'Past Controversial Remarks' Noise Surrounding Han Dong-hoon Administration's Recruitment... Emerging Risk Within the Party

Park Eun-sik Interim Committee Member, Controversy Over Disparaging Remarks About Kim Gu
New Recruit Park Sang-su Faces Backlash for Misogynistic Comments
"Concerns Over Self-Restriction of Momentum Under Han Dong-hoon Administration"

The emergency response committee system of Han Dong-hoon from the People Power Party is facing difficulties due to a series of past controversial remarks made by newly recruited personnel. There are forecasts that this could become a risk within the party. The party leadership also seems to be aware of this and has urged caution against statements and actions that could cause controversy.

According to political circles on the 10th, controversy spread after it was revealed that Park Eun-sik, a member of the People Power Party emergency response committee, described the late Baekbeom Kim Gu as a "person who threw bombs." In 2021, Park evaluated former President Rhee Syngman on his social media as "a figure who fought with the United States for national interests and 'achieved the founding of the Republic of Korea,'" but also said, "Kim Gu? Would a person who threw bombs really understand international affairs and the country's system?"

Park explained, "The expression came out as I was trying to express regret that former President Rhee has not been properly recognized historically." However, the controversy has not easily subsided. This is not the first time Park's offensive remarks have been revealed. In addition, his post saying, "If you lose a war, 'group ㄱㄱ' happens every day, so what meaning does feminism have?" has also drawn heavy criticism from the public.

Lawyer Park Sang-soo, recruited as a talent for the People Power Party's general election, became controversial as misogynistic remarks continued to be posted in the community he established. It is known that many statements such as "Pretty women do not engage in feminism" and "If you do not marry before 30 and do not have children, regardless of gender, you should be sent to Aoji coal mine" were posted in the community he operated for law school examinees and students in the past.

At the end of last year, the emergency response committee lost face immediately upon its launch due to former committee member Min Kyung-woo's 'elderly disparagement' remarks. When it was revealed that Min said on YouTube in October last year, "The greatest tragedy now is that old people live too long. They should hurry up and pass away," Chairman Han had to personally visit the Korean Senior Citizens Association and bow his head. Political commentator Park Sang-byeong evaluated, "The offensive remarks scandal of the People Power Party emergency response committee is self-restricting the initial momentum of the Han Dong-hoon system."
