Secured Over 2.8 Billion KRW in National Funds, Promoting Resident Support Projects with Additional Military Budget Injection
Busan Gijang-gun (Governor Jeong Jong-bok) has secured a total project budget of 2.803 billion KRW after four projects were finally selected in the ‘2024 Greenbelt Resident Support Project’ hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
The ‘Greenbelt Resident Support Project’ is a program supported by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to improve the quality of life for residents in greenbelt areas and promote balanced regional development. It is divided into ‘Living Infrastructure Projects’ such as village access road construction and parking lot creation, and ‘Environmental and Cultural Projects’ such as trail creation and landscape projects.
Last September, the county secured about 1.9 billion KRW for three projects under the 2024 Resident Support Project, but recently, with the additional selection of one living infrastructure project, the total increased to four projects (two living infrastructure projects and two environmental and cultural projects), securing about 2.8 billion KRW in project funds.
This is the largest achievement to date, and the county plans to actively promote the resident support projects this year by investing a total of about 3.9 billion KRW, including additional county funds.
Specifically, in the living infrastructure sector, the newly added ‘Cheolmaro (Jangjeon Village area) Road Expansion Project’ and ‘Nareumteocheon Maintenance Project (from Wayeori to Jangjeon-ri, Cheolma-myeon)’ were selected, while in the environmental and cultural sector, the ‘Ilgwangsan Baramnuri Trail Creation Project’ and the ‘Imgimaeul Small Park Creation Project’ were chosen.
Among these, the ‘Cheolmaro (Jangjeon Village area) Road Expansion Project (national funding of 883 million KRW)’ is a project to expand the road near the Cheolma-myeon Administrative Welfare Center, where the road was narrow and caused significant inconvenience for vehicle traffic and pedestrians. With the secured national funding, the project will gain momentum and is scheduled for completion this year. The road expansion is expected to improve traffic conditions and establish a safe pedestrian environment.
Additionally, the ‘Nareumteocheon Maintenance Project’ will invest 200 million KRW for detailed design costs (80 million KRW national funding) to create a waterfront leisure space and expand disaster prevention and infrastructure according to the small stream maintenance plan.
Furthermore, the ‘Ilgwangsan Baramnuri Trail Creation Project (national funding of 1.44 billion KRW)’ will invest a total of 1.8 billion KRW to improve the steepness of the existing hiking trail and create a barrier-free forest path, allowing residents and hikers to visit Ilgwangsan more easily and comfortably. The ‘Imgimaeul Small Park Creation Project (Environmental and Cultural Project)’ is a project filled with the wishes of the residents of Imgimaeul. By actively reflecting residents’ requests, 500 million KRW (400 million KRW national funding) will be invested to transform the space into an area equipped with sports facilities, a playground, and resting areas.
A Gijang-gun official said, “We are pleased that the living conditions of residents who have experienced inconveniences due to the greenbelt designation can be improved through this project selection,” and added, “We will do our best to improve the quality of life for residents by discovering more resident support projects.”
