Seodaemun-gu Conducts Proactive Safety Inspections of Fire-Vulnerable Facilities Including Nursing Hospitals

Seodaemun-gu (District Mayor Lee Seongheon) conducted sample safety inspections on the 4th and 5th at six vulnerable facilities where casualties could occur in the event of a fire, including old apartments, traditional markets, and nursing hospitals.

This was to prevent human and property damage through proactive on-site inspections of multi-use facilities. An inspection team led by the district mayor was formed and carried out jointly with Seodaemun Fire Station, Korea Electrical Safety Corporation, Korea Gas Safety Corporation, and others.

The inspection team focused on whether each facility had appointed a fire safety manager, the installation and operation of fire-fighting equipment, grounding of electrical machines and operation of leakage circuit breakers, and the appropriateness of gas container storage.

Additionally, for traditional markets, the team checked the proper operation of automatic fire extinguishing devices and fire-fighting equipment; for nursing hospitals, evacuation spaces, ramps, installation and marking of firefighter access windows; and for old apartments, the safety of electric heating appliances.

Lee Seongheon, Mayor of Seodaemun-gu, said, “We will work diligently with related organizations on preventive measures so that all residents can safely spend the winter without fire damage.”
