Jodie Foster: "Working with Generation Z is really annoying, but still..."

In an Interview, "The Younger Generation Is Too Self-Willed"
"Still, Helping Young Actors Is an Important Task"

Hollywood star Jodie Foster caught attention by saying, "Working with the younger generation is sometimes really annoying." However, he also added, "Helping the younger generation is an important task."

On the 6th (local time), Foster jokingly said in an interview with the British Guardian, "Generation Z is really annoying, especially in the workplace."

He said, "They (Generation Z) have their own way of coming to work. It's like, 'No, I'm not feeling good today, so I'll come in at 10:30 AM.' Also, when I point out after receiving an email, 'This is grammatically incorrect. Please check your spelling,' they respond, 'Why should I do that?'"

When asked what young actors should know, Foster replied, "They need to learn how to relax, not to overthink, and how to come up with their own ideas." He added, "The young female actors today are navigating the sea I crossed with difficulty. Helping them is an important task."

Foster, who is homosexual, has two adopted sons with his former partner Sydney Bernard. He revealed that even within the family, they have to fight against gender stereotypes.

Foster said, "My son grew up among women, so when he was in high school, he struggled to figure out what it means to be a man." One day, while watching TV, his son concluded, "I'm going to be a bad guy who is mean to women," and so I told him, "No, being a man is not like that!" He continued, "I can understand my son. The media is instilling that kind of male image. That's exactly what our culture has been selling to you all this time."

Foster started as a child actor, working as a commercial model from the age of 3, and at 14 in 1976, he brilliantly portrayed a young prostitute in the film Taxi Driver, earning a nomination for Best Supporting Actress at the Academy Awards that year. He then won the Academy Award for Best Actress in 1988 for The Accused, establishing himself as an adult actor. Later, Foster opened her prime by winning the Academy Award for Best Actress again in 1991 for The Silence of the Lambs. She is the first actor to win two Academy Awards for Best Actress before the age of 30.

In the same year, Foster successfully debuted as a director with Little Man Tate, and since the 2000s, she has focused more on directing and producing than acting.
