Silla University Department of Dental Hygiene, All Third-Year Students Pass Dental Coordinator and Service Conversation Specialist Certification Exams

The Department of Dental Hygiene at Silla University (President Heo Nam-sik) achieved a 100% pass rate for all 35 third-year students in the 'Hospital Coordinator' and 'Service Conversation Specialist' qualification exams conducted by the Korea Research Institute for Vocational Education and Training (KRIVET).

In December 2023, all 35 third-year students from Silla University's Department of Dental Hygiene passed the 'Hospital Coordinator' and 'Service Conversation Specialist' qualification exams administered by KRIVET, marking the honor of a perfect pass rate for two consecutive years.

The role of a 'Hospital Coordinator,' who performs tasks such as medical service management, hospital management planning and administration, hospital marketing, and patient counseling through understanding medical environments and customers in healthcare institutions, and the role of a 'Service Conversation Specialist,' who discovers appropriate conversation topics at every patient interaction point to ensure the highest satisfaction and moves patients emotionally to conduct accurate medical consultations, are essential roles for dental hygienists.

The Department of Dental Hygiene at Silla University conducts education aimed at all third-year students obtaining the 'Hospital Coordinator' and 'Service Conversation Specialist' certifications to prepare them for challenges in patient counseling and dental medical management after graduation as dental hygienists.

In particular, the department actively supports students in obtaining certifications by inviting Adjunct Professor Kim Ji-won, who has 25 years of experience as a dental hygienist and serves as the general director of a dental medical institution, to provide over 30 hours of specialized curriculum in management dental hygiene and hospital management through theoretical and practical training.

Adjunct Professor Kim Ji-won said, "I am indescribably happy and grateful for the news that all students passed," adding, "I hope the students become warm dental hygienists who can communicate with patients and build rapport (a psychological term indicating mutual trust) in the workplace."

Department Head Jang Kyung-ae of the Department of Dental Hygiene at Silla University stated, "Our department operates an education program that quickly adapts to changes to provide the best qualifications for students aspiring to become dental hygienists," and added, "This achievement is also a precious result obtained through the regular curriculum, and we will continue to strive to enhance students' professional expertise and employment capabilities."

By establishing a doctoral program in dental hygiene for the 2024 academic year, the Department of Dental Hygiene at Silla University now offers the best master's and doctoral education programs in dental hygiene in the Yeongnam region.
