The Construction Project for the Gadeokdo New Airport Railroad Connection Line Also Proposed
A project to create a carbon capture and storage facility that can reduce 1.2 million tons of carbon dioxide annually by utilizing the Donghae depleted gas field will undergo a preliminary feasibility study (PFS).
On the 5th, the Ministry of Economy and Finance announced that it held a Fiscal Project Evaluation Committee meeting chaired by Second Vice Minister Kim Yoon-sang and selected 11 projects, including this one, for the PFS.
The Donghae Gas Field Utilization Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) demonstration project has a total project cost of 2.9529 trillion won and was promoted to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 and to revitalize low-carbon industries. River environment maintenance projects, such as embankment repairs and sediment dredging in the Hyeongsan River basin around Pohang and Gyeongju, were also selected for the PFS.

The Ministry of Justice's project to integrate and overhaul four immigration administration civil complaint systems into an online immigration administration civil complaint system, and the project to build the National Maritime Fisheries Museum to preserve knowledge and artifacts in the maritime and fisheries sector and to provide education and exhibitions were also selected for the PFS.
Additionally, the Gadeokdo New Airport Railway Connection project, which will establish a connecting line to allow seamless access to the new airport in the southeastern region including Busan and Ulsan, as well as the Yongmun~Hongcheon metropolitan railway and Wirye Samdong Line construction projects, will undergo the PFS.
Other projects selected for the PFS include the construction of the Geoje~Tongyeong Expressway, expansion and construction of the Jeju Jung-sangan Road sections Bonggae-ri~Wasan-ri and Gwideok-ri~Sangga-ri, and the opening of a connecting road for the Ulsan Research and Development (R&D) Business Valley.
At this committee meeting, the extension of Daegu Line 1 to Yeongcheon, the third phase of the Chungju Dam system metropolitan water supply construction, and the construction of the National Assembly Integrated Digital Center (Daejeon) projects were approved. Also, the Agricultural Food Voucher Support Project, which provides vouchers to purchase vegetables, fruits, meat, and other items to improve the diet of low-income vulnerable groups, passed the feasibility study.
