At a New Year's press conference held on the 3rd at the city hall auditorium, Mayor Kim emphasized, "Creating future food sources is the most important task," and added, "We will spare no effort in providing full support to attract corporate investment."
Mayor Kim stated, "Although we failed to attract the semiconductor specialized complex last year, Icheon still possesses high competitiveness, having both semiconductor production and research complexes," and added, "We will achieve synergy effects through active win-win cooperation with Yongin City, which is newly embarking on semiconductor industry development."
Mayor Kim especially plans to focus on attracting advanced industries centered on the 'Advanced Future City Promotion Team' and 'Investment Attraction Team,' which were launched last year. He said, "Besides semiconductors, Icheon City has a solid foundation in artificial intelligence (AI) and defense industries," and added, "We will spare no support to ensure there are no obstacles to corporate investment."
He also advocated the need to ease regulations under the Metropolitan Area Readjustment Planning Act. He explained, "Icheon City is entirely designated as a natural conservation zone, making it impossible to attract large-scale factories," and added, "Since the government is also emphasizing the need for regulatory relaxation, we will continue to propose policies to eliminate unnecessary overlapping regulations."
Meanwhile, Mayor Kim set ▲prioritizing people's livelihood ▲sound fiscal management ▲strengthening competitiveness as the core goals of city administration. To achieve this, he plans to promote six key tasks: ▲revitalizing people's livelihood and local economy and fostering advanced industries ▲implementing premium welfare that embraces all generations ▲realizing care and education that make both children and parents happy ▲creating a culture and tourism experience in daily life and a people-centered green city ▲developing a safe and convenient city ▲and strengthening rural competitiveness through future agriculture development.
Mayor Kim said, "Although tax revenue has decreased due to the economic downturn, we will maintain fiscal soundness through expenditure restructuring and strengthened spending management," and added, "In particular, we will steadily promote infrastructure construction for strengthening the local social safety net and balanced development, stabilizing people's livelihood, and various pending projects."
