Seongbuk-gu Eases Policy to Two Children... Tax Reduction Benefits for 20,000 Households

If the Criteria for Multiple Children Are Relaxed in the 'Low Birthrate Era'... Flood of Benefits

Seongbuk-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) announced on the 3rd that it will change the criteria for multi-child families from the existing three children to two children in order to address the deepening low birthrate problem and alleviate the childcare burden of multi-child families, providing discount benefits to 19,942 households with two or more children in Seongbuk-gu.

Since July last year, Seongbuk-gu has revised ordinances related to discounts for the use of public facilities such as public parking lots, sports facilities, and cultural facilities, unifying the multi-child discount recipients to holders of the Dadungi Happiness Card (families with two or more children whose youngest is under 18) and expanding the benefits.

Accordingly, the Seongbuk-gu Seoul-type Kids Cafe and Seongbuk-gu Art Museum, scheduled to open in the first half of this year, can be used free of charge by families with two or more children. Public parking lots, childcare support centers, libraries, cultural and artistic facilities, and community centers offer a 50% discount for families with two or more children, while public sports facilities provide a 30% discount for two-child families and a 50% discount for families with three or more children.

Lee Seung-ro, Mayor of Seongbuk-gu, said, “In the serious low birthrate situation, we have expanded benefits to ease the burden on multi-child families raising two or more children even a little,” adding, “We will continue to expand practical support to create a Seongbuk where it is good to have and raise children.”
