Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) has transformed the Knowledge Flower Garden (Jeonnong-dong 691-3) into a dazzling landscape lighting attraction, providing residents with a new wintertime spectacle.
As flowers wither and the winter landscape becomes barren, the district completed the installation of LED landscape lighting that highlights the beauty of nature in the Knowledge Flower Garden. Installed on the 19th of last month, the lighting includes 500 firefly lights and 12 balloon lights, warmly welcoming residents who visit the garden late into the evening. Additionally, two transparent dome houses were installed to offer visitors a resting place to escape the cold.
The district created the Knowledge Flower Garden on a vacant lot at the Jeonnong-dong Public Library site and opened it to residents in September last year. In a user satisfaction survey conducted in November, 90% of the 283 participants expressed satisfaction with the garden, and 64% responded that it greatly benefits residents' lives, establishing it as a true hot spot in the neighborhood.
Following the autumn flower garden filled with cosmos and the winter garden illuminated by firefly lights, the district sowed 12 types of flower seeds?including rapeseed, corn poppy, and bachelor's button?as well as blue barley, a symbol of spring, last November to present a more vibrant spring garden next year.
Lee Pil-hyung, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, said, “We have created a winter garden where people can stroll while enjoying the beautiful firefly lights and color-changing balloon lights. We hope visitors will appreciate the lovely landscape lighting at the Knowledge Flower Garden and find warmth and healing inside the transparent dome houses.”
