Average Height of Vietnamese People Has 'Soared' Compared to 10 Years Ago
A woman participating in a Vietnamese beauty pageant revealed the secret to her tall height. She attracted attention by stating, "Drinking milk three times a day is the secret to my tall stature."
Vietnamese media VN Express reported on the 29th that Nguyen Min, who participated in the Miss Grand Vietnam pageant, the country's top beauty contest, made this statement. Nguyen's height reaches 175 cm, far surpassing her father’s 169 cm.
She said, "By middle school, I was already 170 cm tall, so my friends gave me the nickname 'pillar,' and I also played basketball and handball, helping my team win championships."

Nguyen, 19, who attends a foreign specialized college in Hanoi, Vietnam, and works as a freelance model, learned from an early age through the internet that sufficient nutrition and exercise are important for growing tall.
She explained, "At home, we raise organic vegetables and dairy cows, so I could consume fresh vegetables and milk every day. I drink milk three times daily: once before breakfast, once in the afternoon, and once two hours before bedtime, sometimes consuming up to 2 liters of milk per day."
Besides milk, she said, "At every meal, I eat a fist-sized portion of vegetables or fruits, followed by an equally sized portion of protein foods. I consume only finger-sized amounts of fats or carbohydrates and drink 1.5 liters of water daily."
Additionally, Nguyen introduced, "Except during exam periods, I go to bed before 10 p.m., do squats for more than 30 minutes daily to maintain a slim and toned body, and practice intermittent fasting about twice a week by fasting for over 16 hours a day."

Meanwhile, the average height of the Vietnamese population is known to be rapidly increasing alongside economic growth.
According to the Vietnamese government, from 2010 to 2020, the average height grew nearly twice as fast as in the previous decade. During this period, Vietnamese men and women grew by 3.7 cm and 1.4 cm respectively, reaching 168.1 cm and 156.2 cm. Compared to the previous decade from 2000 to 2010, when men grew 2.1 cm and women 1 cm, the growth rate significantly increased.
In response, the Hanoi Department of Health reportedly set a goal to raise the average height to 170.5 cm for men and 159 cm for women by 2030. In November last year, the Hanoi Department of Health announced, "We are promoting nutrition policies to achieve an average height of 169 cm for men and 158 cm for women by 2025."
