Daewoo E&C: "Nigerian Kidnapped Employee in Good Health... Early Return Planned"

Daewoo E&C announced on the 30th that two employees who were kidnapped in Nigeria and released after 17 days are currently in good health and are scheduled to return to Korea as soon as possible following local procedures.

According to Yonhap News on the same day, Daewoo E&C expressed gratitude to the South Korean government and the Nigerian government for their full support through all diplomatic channels to ensure the safe release of the kidnapped employees.

Earlier, at around 10 a.m. local time on the 12th, two Daewoo E&C employees were kidnapped by armed groups while moving to the Baran Infill petrochemical plant site in Bayelsa State, Nigeria.

In response, Daewoo E&C dispatched a head-level official to the site and operated a 24-hour emergency situation room to resolve the incident. Daewoo E&C stated, "We will use this incident as an opportunity to establish measures to strengthen the local security system and create a safer working environment."
