Concentrated Deployment of Available Safety Personnel During Peak Crowd Times Such as Sunrise
"Receive the first energy of the Year of the Blue Dragon in Pohang!"
In preparation for the 26th Homigot Korean Peninsula Sunrise Festival held on the 1st, Pohang City is prioritizing safety and making thorough preparations for the event.
This year's Homigot Sunrise Festival is expected to attract a large crowd as it is the first normal festival held in four years since COVID-19. Accordingly, Pohang City is frequently visiting the site and focusing on establishing safety measures.
For this event, container booths have been installed throughout the venue to enhance safety against strong winds compared to previous events, and drones are used to monitor and manage crowd-dense areas in real time.
In particular, during peak crowd times such as sunrise, available safety personnel will be concentrated, and a medical support team will be organized within the comprehensive control room to ensure a prompt response in case of accidents.
Additionally, a total of 239 traffic officers will be deployed at key points, and a traffic control center will be set up together with the police to ensure thorough parking management and vehicle flow, assisting visitors' convenience.
Along with this, through guidance and inspection of hygiene establishments, overcharging will be eradicated and food safety will be rechecked. Clean zones and mobile cleaning teams will operate within the venue to regularly inspect cleanliness.
Pohang City has also prepared various attractions to enrich the event while ensuring safety.
Official sunrise events will include large drum performances, four-character idiom displays, New Year performances, and celebratory helicopter flights around sunrise. Various side events are planned, such as the distribution of '2024 Tteokguk Sharing' in meal kit form, experiential programs, and the 'Homigot Market' offering food and goods to warmly melt away the cold.
Mayor Lee Kang-deok said, "I hope that by receiving the energy of the Blue Dragon in Pohang, we can have a year of soaring success," and added, "We will thoroughly prepare the event with safety as the top priority for visitors who come to welcome the New Year in Pohang."
