This Year Totals 258 Days, Significantly Decreased Compared to Last Year's 469 Days
The Nakdong River Basin Environmental Office announced on the 28th at 3 PM that the algae bloom warnings issued at the Nakdong River Chilseo, Mulgeum, and Maeri points have been 'lifted.'
At the Chilseo, Mulgeum, and Maeri points, recent algae measurements were below the issuance criteria (1,000 cells/㎖ or more) for two consecutive times. Accordingly, the Chilseo point was downgraded to the 'Attention' stage on the 29th, and the algae bloom warning at the Mulgeum-Maeri point was lifted after 78 days.
This lifting of the algae bloom warning is analyzed to be due to a decrease in harmful cyanobacteria populations caused by the drop in water temperature during the winter season.
With the lifting of the algae bloom warnings at the Chilseo and Mulgeum-Maeri points, all points under the Nakdong River algae bloom warning system are now free of any algae bloom warnings.
The total number of days with algae bloom warnings issued this year under the jurisdiction of the Nakdong River Basin Environmental Office was 122 days at Chilseo and 146 days at Mulgeum-Maeri, totaling 258 days, which is a significant decrease compared to 469 days in 2022.
