Changwon Special City Receives Presidential Citation for Promoting Bicycle Use

Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam announced on the 28th that it received the 'Presidential Institutional Commendation' in the 2023 Bicycle Usage Promotion category organized by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.

The government award in the bicycle usage promotion category by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety is implemented to select and honor local governments, civic groups, educational institutions, etc., that have contributed to policy development to encourage public interest and participation in bicycle usage promotion.

Following the 'Excellence Award' at the '2023 Bicycle Usage Best Practice Competition,' Changwon was selected as a local government to receive the Presidential Commendation in recognition of its efforts in promoting policy projects for bicycle usage activation, such as the introduction of the shared Plus Nubija, and continuous expansion of bicycle infrastructure.

In particular, the city is carrying out various projects to promote bicycle usage, including ▲introduction of the shared Plus Nubija ▲promotion of bicycle path construction projects on idle railway land ▲operation of free rental stations on the Nakdong River bicycle path ▲Duldul Day campaign ▲reform bicycle project.

Mayor Hong Nam-pyo said, “Receiving the Presidential Institutional Commendation in the bicycle usage promotion category is a result of Changwon City's consistent efforts,” adding, “We will do our best to implement various policies to further enhance the reputation of Changwon as a bicycle city by creating a safe bicycle usage environment and become an eco-friendly city.”
