Lee Jae-myung Posts and Deletes "Late Lee Seon-gyun, Sacrificed to State Power" Statement

Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, posted and then deleted a tribute on social media (SNS) for the late actor Go Lee Seon-gyun (48), who was found dead on the 27th.

In his tribute, Lee said, "I mourn the late Lee Seon-gyun. An innocent citizen has once again become a victim due to the national investigative authority tasked with protecting the people from crime," adding, "I feel deeply pained as I believe I bear a significant responsibility for Mr. Lee's death." He continued, "My Mister, I hope you can fully bloom your peaceful and kind face in the next world. Forget all the grievances of this life and rest in peace now." The phrase "My Mister" refers to the late actor's representative work. The post was made around midnight on the 28th but was deleted shortly thereafter.

Meanwhile, the late Lee Seon-gyun was found dead on the morning of the 27th in a vehicle parked on the street in Seongbuk-gu, Seoul. Since earlier this year, he had been under police investigation for allegedly using various drugs, including marijuana and ketamine, at a manager's house in an entertainment establishment in Gangnam, Seoul. Previously, in October, he was booked without detention on charges related to marijuana and psychotropic substances under the Narcotics Control Act and was summoned for police questioning three times.
