At 7:30 AM on the 1st, a vigorous drumbeat marks the sunrise countdown, sending New Year's wishes aloft with drones to pray for wish fulfillment
Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jo Seong-myeong) will hold the ‘Gapjin Year Sunrise Event’ to wish for the health and happiness of all residents on January 1st at 7:30 AM at Samsung Sunrise Park.
Samsung Sunrise Park (82 Samseong-dong), boasting the best view of the Han River in Gangnam, firmly established itself as a popular sunrise spot by completing construction on the lower part of the park on the 20th. Approximately 1,000 people plan to gather at the park, which has a total area of 22,598㎡ connecting the upper and lower sections, to welcome the New Year sunrise.
At 7:30 AM, a powerful drum will be sounded, and at the scheduled sunrise time, everyone will shout the sunrise countdown together to greet the hopeful first day of the Gapjin Year. A drone performance will follow, where wish papers containing attendees’ New Year hopes will be attached to drones and lifted high into the sky.
The event will conclude with New Year congratulatory speeches from distinguished guests and a performance by a children’s choir wishing for a hopeful New Year. Side events include ▲writing wish papers ▲family photo sessions ▲Cheongnyong photo zone. From 8:30 AM, the Gangnam Dining CEO Course Alumni Association will hold a ‘Tteokguk Sharing Event’ at Cheongdam-garo Park.
Jo Seong-myeong, Mayor of Gangnam-gu, stated, “I hope everyone will make resolutions for a hopeful year at Samsung Sunrise Park, which has emerged as a sunrise landmark. As we welcome the Year of the Blue Dragon, I wish for all residents to achieve their aspirations, and like a dragon soaring, we will vigorously advance for Gangnam’s leap forward.”
