Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province opened a right-turn-only lane for access to Block 6 of Pangyo Innob Valley in Sampyeong-dong, Bundang-gu, on the 28th.
With the opening of the right-turn lane, Sampyeonggyo Bridge, which previously had 8 lanes, has been expanded to 9 lanes, and it is expected that traffic congestion in the Block 6 area of Pangyo Innob Valley, a habitual congestion zone, will be significantly alleviated.
Sampyeonggyo Bridge, located at Pangyo Techno Central Intersection, has a nearby bus stop where vehicle bottlenecks frequently occurred due to buses stopping.
Accordingly, Seongnam City conducted a safety inspection and detailed design for Sampyeonggyo Bridge to improve the traffic system, partially reducing the pedestrian section of the bridge and carrying out expansion work for the right-turn-only lane.
The project cost, including the entire pavement work on Sampyeonggyo Bridge, amounted to approximately 391 million KRW.
A Seongnam City official stated, "With the expansion of the right-turn lane on Sampyeonggyo Bridge to improve the traffic system in Block 6 of Pangyo Innob Valley, a campaign pledge of the 8th local government, we expect that the severe traffic congestion during commuting hours will be greatly alleviated."
