National Road Budget 440 Billion Won... Expectation for Revitalizing Dadohae Island Tourism
Shinan-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Park Woo-ryang) announced on the 27th that it has secured 440 billion KRW in major national and local government budget funds for 2024, along with the 2024 government budget passed by the National Assembly plenary session on the 21st, achieving significant results for regional development.
Major national projects include △66 billion KRW for Heuksan Airport construction △105.4 billion KRW for National Road No. 77 (Aphae?Hwawon) construction △16.3 billion KRW for National Road No. 2 (Aphae?Songgong) facility improvement △1 billion KRW for Sugok?Sinseok road facility improvement, along with transportation SOC projects and port and agricultural and fishery development projects.
Key general national budget projects include △3.5 billion KRW for creating fine dust blocking forests △1 billion KRW for Chupodo food tourism theme site development △2 billion KRW for restoration of halophytic plant vegetation in the northern area of Shinan △3.8 billion KRW for building eco-friendly vehicle charging infrastructure (hydrogen charging stations) △28 billion KRW for rural village sewage system maintenance △2.4 billion KRW for industrial promotion to improve the quality of solar salt, securing budgets to address local issues.
Additionally, 51.7 billion KRW was secured from the 2024 balanced special account budget, along with 39.1 billion KRW for local transfer conversion projects and 8 billion KRW for the population extinction response fund, enabling active responses to the population extinction crisis through tourism revitalization and various income projects.
In particular, as a result of full efforts to additionally reflect projects that were not included in the government budget due to the central government's sound fiscal policy during the National Assembly review, 10 projects including the designation service for the solar salt production complex (total project cost 320 billion KRW, 16.1 billion KRW in 2024 national budget) were increased through the National Assembly.
Governor Park Woo-ryang stated, “In 2024, when the county’s financial conditions are expected to worsen due to a decrease in local allocation tax, various budgets for regional development were secured thanks to the joint efforts of local lawmakers and all public officials to maximize external resources. We will do our best to effectively utilize all secured budgets to improve the quality of life for our residents.”
