From Jeonryu Ri Pogu to Dongpae Underpass, 19.9 km
Course 4 of the Gyeonggi Dullegil Trail is a path where you can walk along the Han River breeze through the plains of Gimpo and Goyang. It starts at Jeollyuri Port, passes by the Gimpo Han River Wild Bird Ecological Park, crosses the Ilsan Bridge, and heads toward Goyang City. The total distance is 19.9 km and takes about 7 hours and 45 minutes, so it is recommended to set aside a day or divide the walk into sections.
The starting point of this trail, Jeollyuri Port, is the last remaining port in the Han River basin. It is known as a place where freshwater and seawater mix twice a day, allowing various fish species to be caught. In spring, mullet, gray mullet, and pufferfish are caught. In summer, sea bass and eel are caught. Autumn is the season for shrimp and freshwater crabs. When winter comes, mullet return again.
Walking from Jeollyuri Port, you will come across the Gimpo Han River Wild Bird Ecological Park. This park is designed to preserve the habitats of wild birds and provide a place for ecological experiential learning, allowing citizens and nature to coexist. It consists of a royal cherry blossom walking trail, wetland ecological garden, oak forest, pine forest, grain fields, and Obangwon (a traditional Korean garden layout).
The Gimpo section allows you to walk along the edge of the Gimpo plains while feeling the Han River breeze. Crossing the river via the Ilsan Bridge, the path continues into Goyang City. Ilsan Bridge, the lowest bridge over the Han River, connects Gimpo and Goyang. This bridge was the first private investment road project in Gyeonggi Province. It is a 1.8 km, six-lane bridge connecting Beopgot-dong in Ilsanseo-gu, Goyang City, and Geolpo-dong in Gimpo City, part of National Support Local Road No. 98. Construction began in August 2003, and after 4 years and 9 months of work, it opened in May 2008.
Crossing Ilsan Bridge brings you to Goyang City. Historically, Goyang was a fertile plain created by the rich soil carried by the Han River. On this vast land now stands KINTEX, an exhibition center jointly established by Gyeonggi Province, Goyang City, and the government. It is said to have the fourth largest exhibition area in Asia. Various fairs and exhibitions are held throughout the year. The walk through the urban area continues from Dongpae Underpass toward Paju.
