Lee was found dead inside a car parked in a park in Jongno-gu, Seoul, on the morning of the same day. Since October, he had been under police investigation for marijuana and psychotropic substances charges under the Narcotics Control Act. On the 23rd, he underwent a third investigation that lasted 19 hours. Lee had expressed his innocence, saying, "I did not know it was a drug."
