Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon is presiding over the open provincial government meeting on the 27th.
Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon defined the upcoming year 2024 as ‘Minseon 8th Term Season 2’ and announced that he will continue key projects such as the establishment of the Gyeonggi Northern Special Self-Governing Province and Gyeonggi RE100 without wavering.
On the 27th, at the ‘Open Provincial Government Meeting’ held in the multipurpose conference room of the provincial office, Governor Kim said, "I consider the past one and a half years of the Minseon 8th term as Season 1, and the remaining one and a half years as Season 2," adding, "Now, I will boldly and unwaveringly proceed on the path of Season 2."
He continued, "It will be difficult to overcome the waves and tsunamis of the central government that go against carbon neutrality, but Gyeonggi Province alone will push forward without wavering," and added, "At least regarding climate change response and RE100, I consider Gyeonggi Province as the government-in-exile of the Republic of Korea. I hope we can firmly advance climate policies as a stronghold."
Governor Kim also reiterated his determination to proceed unwaveringly with the Gyeonggi Northern Special Self-Governing Province.
He stated, "Gyeonggi Province has done everything it can. I express strong regret once again over the central government’s lack of response to Gyeonggi’s request for a resident referendum," and promised, "At the beginning of the new year, we will publicly announce Gyeonggi’s position on the Northern Special Self-Governing Province. The clear fact is that regardless of the central government’s reaction, we will proceed without wavering."
He also said, "There was a regrettable bus accident recently at Suwon Station, so please pay special attention to blocking and inspecting large crowds, gatherings, and various risk factors during the year-end and New Year holidays to prevent safety accidents," and urged, "Especially in winter, vulnerable groups face greater difficulties with electricity and gas bills. Please do not overlook this and actively find ways to provide practical help with a warm heart through proactive administration."
